10,000+ Watt Inverters for a 10,000 Watt Solar System

A 10,000 watt solar system needs an inverter that can turn a 48V battery bank and a large PV array into 120/240V split-phase power for an entire house: central air, a well pump, an electric dryer and the kitchen at the same time. The inverters in this collection are rated for 10kW of continuous output or more, and most are hybrids, meaning they handle solar charging, battery management, grid pass-through and generator input in one cabinet.

There are 25 units here from Sol-Ark, EG4, Sungold Power, Rich Solar and APEX. Prices start at $1,680 for the off-grid APEX-10K and the Sungold Power 10,000W 48V Split Phase inverter, run through $2,949 to $6,415 for residential hybrids from Rich Solar, EG4 and Sol-Ark, and reach $14,455 for three-phase commercial units.

How to choose a 10kW-plus inverter

  • Off-grid only or hybrid. The APEX-10K is built for properties without utility service, with solar and generator inputs. Hybrids like the Rich Solar NOVA 12K (UL 1741) also connect to the grid, so you can charge from utility power and ride through outages without switching anything.
  • Continuous watts versus PV input. The two numbers are separate. The NOVA 12K delivers 10,000W continuous and accepts 12,000W of panels; the EG4 FlexBOSS18 gives 13,000W continuous with up to 18,000W of PV across two MPPT trackers. Size the output to your loads and the PV input to your roof.
  • Whole-home backup path. The Sungold Power 11.4kW SGN-11K15PRO provides 200A whole-home backup, so the whole main panel stays live in an outage with no critical-loads sub-panel. Sol-Ark's 15K and 18K are pre-wired all-in-one hybrids, which shortens installation time.
  • Expansion and monitoring. The EG4 FlexBOSS21 runs 12,000W on its own and rises to 16,000W with EG4's GridBOSS hub; the FlexBOSS18 includes built-in 4G for sites without reliable internet.
  • Three-phase. Shops and farms on 120/208V or 277/480V need the Sol-Ark 30K or 60K rather than a split-phase unit.

Setup and usage tips

  • Size the battery to the inverter's charge and discharge current. A 10kW inverter at 48V pulls over 200A at full load, so a single small rack battery will trip; plan two or more units or a 200A-rated wall battery.
  • Use the Solar Kit Calculator before choosing between a 10K and a 15K. It estimates inverter, battery and panel size from your appliances and ZIP code.
  • Check the surge rating against your biggest motor. Well pumps and air conditioners draw several times their running watts at start-up.
  • Plan for permits. Grid-interactive hybrids need utility approval and a licensed electrician for the interconnect; off-grid units skip the utility step but still follow local code.
  • Match the battery communication protocol. Closed-loop charging works only when the inverter and battery brand talk to each other; ask us before mixing brands.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 10,000 watt solar generator the same thing as one of these inverters? No. A solar generator is a portable power station with a built-in battery. These are fixed inverters that need a separate 48V battery bank and PV array, but they deliver far more continuous power and whole-house 240V.

Can I run central air conditioning on a 10kW inverter? Usually yes for a 3 to 4 ton unit, as long as the battery can supply the start-up surge. Check the compressor's locked-rotor amps and compare them with the inverter's surge rating.

Do I need the grid to use a hybrid inverter? No. Hybrids run fully off-grid; the grid connection is optional. If you will never have utility service, the APEX-10K is the lower-cost route.

All inverters ship free to the mainland US from our brand partner warehouses, usually within a few business days, with 30-day returns. Send us your load list and battery choice and we will confirm the right unit before you order.
