This inverter's own AC battery charger handles grid and generator charging. Its official wiring diagram shows solar panels connecting through a separate MPPT solar charge controller into the battery bank, rather than through a built-in solar input on the inverter itself.
This unit has been a amazing, although I think I own an earlier generation. I have been living off-grid, running my entire catamaran on one of these units for 4+ years. I am so happy with the quality that I ordered a whole home system as well.

My husband and I bought this solar product for our cabin in the mountains. I did a lot of research, since this use was in the middle of nowhere and it was going to be a DIY project. From my first phone conversation with the tech agent to make sure I got the correct size to how it would be shipped was seamless. Ordered and received all the equipment just as expected. We have 2 wonderful, talented friends who installed it. They did have some questions as they went, but called the tech line and everyone was very helpful. They built a wooden platform to place the panels and when all was done, they powered it on and it was wonderful! No more noisy generator and we have plenty of power with one switch! We could not be happier and we would recommend Sun Gold highly!
