Sungold Power inverters cover three different jobs, and picking the wrong family is the most common mistake we see. The split-phase solar inverters (8,000W, 10,000W, 12kW FR12K-B) have MPPT solar input built in and run off-grid. The pure sine wave inverter chargers (12,000W, 15,000W, 18,000W) do not list built-in solar input; they convert battery power and charge from grid or generator, so plan on a separate charge controller. The hybrid models (SGN-11K15PRO, SGS-12K18MAX) add grid-tie and 200A whole-home pass-through.

How to choose a Sungold inverter

• Do you need solar input in the box? The Sungold Power 8,000W 48V Split Phase Solar Inverter takes 11,000W of PV on dual inputs with 200A of charge current, so panels wire straight in. The Sungold Power 12,000W Split Phase Inverter Charger does not list PV input, which suits systems that already have MPPT controllers or that charge mainly from a generator.
• Continuous watts and surge. The 18,000W inverter charger lists 54.0kW of surge for 20 seconds, enough to start large well pumps and shop compressors. The 8,000W and 10,000W units cover most homes without central air.
• Grid interaction. The Sungold Power 12kW Hybrid SGS-12K18MAX is UL1741 SB listed, takes 18kW of PV, has an IP65 enclosure and passes 200A through to the main panel, on-grid, off-grid or hybrid. The 11.4kW SGN-11K15PRO does the same with 11.4kW output. Off-grid-only models cost roughly half as much.
• Rapid shutdown and breakers. The 12kW FR12K-B includes built-in PV rapid shutdown and circuit breakers, a real saving in parts and inspection time on a permitted install.
• Single or three phase. Almost everything here is 120/240V split-phase for US homes. The PowerCore 18kW outputs 120/208V three-phase for farms and workshops, and the SGS-12K18MAX can do either.

• Respect the PV voltage limit. The 8,000W unit lists 500V open-circuit voltage; count panels per string with cold-weather Voc, not the nameplate.
• Inverter chargers need a 48V battery large enough to absorb their charge current. The 18,000W model lists 100A AC battery charging, so plan at least two 100Ah modules.
• The 2 x 5,000W parallel set needs both units wired and configured together before first power-up. Follow the parallel kit instructions exactly.
