100Ah Solar Batteries: Same Amp-Hours, Very Different Energy

100Ah is the most common battery rating in solar, but it tells you nothing until you know the voltage. Solar batteries rated at 100Ah hold 1,280Wh at 12V, 2,560Wh at 24V and 5,120Wh at 48V, so a 100Ah rack battery for a house stores four times the energy of a 100Ah battery for a van. Are these solar batteries for sale suitable for a power station? No. Portable power stations use their own expansion packs. These batteries are for wired systems with a separate charge controller or hybrid inverter.

Can I mix a 12V and a 24V 100Ah battery in one bank? No. Every battery in a bank must be the same voltage, capacity and ideally the same model and age.
