NOVA MAX and NOVA SUPERCHARGER models add a battery charger and, on the MAX, an 80A MPPT solar controller, so one box handles solar, shore power and the inverter. The 48V NOVA 6548, NOVA 6K and NOVA 12K are hybrid units for cabins and homes. Picking the right solar inverter comes down to battery voltage, continuous watts and whether you want charging built in.

How to choose a Rich Solar inverter

• Battery voltage first. A 12V bank pairs with the NOVA PURE 3K 12V or the NOVA SUPERCHARGER 3K; a 24V bank with the NOVA PURE MAX 3K 24V or the NOVA MAX 3K hybrid; a 48V rack bank with the NOVA 6548, NOVA 6K or NOVA 12K.
• Continuous and surge watts. The NOVA PURE 1K runs 1,000W continuous with a 2,000W surge, fine for a laptop, TV and blender. The 3K models run 3,000W with a 6,000W surge for a microwave or a small air conditioner. The NOVA 6548 gives 6,500W with a 13,000W surge for a whole cabin.
• Charging built in or separate. The NOVA MAX 3K 24V Hybrid combines inverter, 80A MPPT and battery charger in one unit. The NOVA SUPERCHARGER 3K 12V has a charger and a transfer switch that swaps between shore, generator and battery in as little as 20 milliseconds, but no solar controller. NOVA PURE units need a separate charge controller.
• Grid, generator and PV voltage. The NOVA 12K handles solar, battery, utility and generator input with 12,000W of PV capacity and 10,000W of 120/240V split-phase output. The NOVA 6K accepts a 550V PV string, which means fewer parallel strings on a roof array than the NOVA 6548.
