High Watt Solar Panels: 400 Watt Solar Panel Options and Up

A 400 watt solar panel is the practical floor for a home, cabin or large RV array today: fewer panels, less racking and fewer connections for the same kilowatts. This collection gathers rigid residential modules from 335W to 560W, plus the largest portable panels for power stations.

The collection holds 16 high watt solar panels from Sungold Power, Rich Solar, Anker, Bluetti and Jackery. Prices start from $599 for the Bluetti 350W portable, run $845 to $980 for Sungold rigid kits from 370W to 560W, and reach $2,199 to $2,699 for Rich Solar MEGA pallets sold in bulk quantities.

How to choose a high-wattage panel

  • Rigid or portable. Rigid panels go on a rack and stay there: the Sungold Power 440W N-Type Panel and the 2 x Anker SOLIX 440W Rigid Set (820W array, 25% efficiency) are typical. Portable high-watt panels such as the Jackery SolarSaga 500 X fold up and feed a power station, at a higher price per watt.
  • Cell type. PERC monocrystalline (Sungold 415W, 450W) is the value option. N-type (Sungold 440W, Rich Solar MEGA 335 PRO at up to 25.1%) holds output better in heat and over years. Bifacial N-type, like the Sungold Power 560W Bifacial Kit, adds up to 30% from reflected light on ground mounts, carports and canopies.
  • System voltage. Sungold lists its 415W, 440W, 450W and 560W panels for 48V systems and the 370W for 24V; Rich Solar MEGA 400 and 410 are 24V modules that work with grid-tie and off-grid inverters. Match the panel and string voltage to your charge controller or inverter input.
  • Quantity and shipping. Rich Solar MEGA 400, 410 and 335 PRO ship on pallets of 8, 10 or 12 for larger installs. Sungold kits scale from a couple of panels to 31.

Sizing tips

  • Use the Solar Kit Calculator to turn your appliance list and ZIP code into an array size in watts, then divide by panel wattage to get the count. Eight 415W panels make 3,320W; six 560W bifacial panels make 3,360W with less racking.
  • Check the inverter or controller limits before choosing string length. Higher-watt panels usually run higher voltage per module, so fewer fit in series under a given maximum input voltage.
  • Do not compare on rated watts alone. A 200 watt solar panel with good tilt in Arizona can beat a 400W flat panel in Seattle; placement and shade matter more than the label.
  • Bifacial gain needs a reflective, open backside. On a tight roof the 560W bifacial performs like a good monofacial; on a white gravel ground mount it earns its price.
  • For a power station, confirm the input ceiling. A 500W folding panel into a 400W port wastes 100W; the SolarSaga 500 X suits Jackery stations rated for it.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 400W panel better than two 200W panels? For a fixed array, yes: one connection, one rail span, less shading loss between modules. Two smaller panels only win when a 100 watt solar panel class product is all a small trailer roof can fit.

What is the difference between PERC and N-type? N-type cells lose less output in heat and degrade more slowly, which is why Sungold backs them with a 30-year linear warranty. PERC costs a little less per watt and is fine where roof space is not tight.

Can I mix panel wattages in one string? Avoid it. A string runs at the current of its weakest panel, so a 370W module drags down the 440W modules beside it. Keep each string to one model.

Panels ship free to the mainland US from brand partner warehouses, usually within a few business days, with 30-day returns. Tell us your inverter model and roof dimensions and we will work out panel count and string layout with you.
