Jackery Expansion Batteries: Add Capacity Without Replacing Your Station

A Jackery expansion battery is a LiFePO4 pack that plugs into a compatible Jackery power station and adds its watt-hours to the pool the station's inverter draws from. You keep the outlets, the app and the solar input you already have; only the runtime changes. For anyone who bought an Explorer 2000 Plus or a HomePower unit and found that a fridge plus a furnace blower drains it overnight, this is the fix that costs less than a second station.

The collection holds four packs, one for each station family: the Battery Pack 2000 Plus and 2000 Plus v2 for the Explorer 2000 Plus and HomePower 2000 Plus v2, the Battery Pack 3600 Plus for the HomePower 3600 Plus and 3600 Pro Max, and the Battery Pack 5000 Plus for the Explorer 5000 Plus. Prices run from $799 to $2,609.

Jackery Battery Pack 2000 Plus v2 expansion battery, 2,048Wh LiFePO4 rated for 6,000 cycles

How to choose the right expansion battery

  • Match the station first. Each pack fits a specific family. The Battery Pack 2000 Plus and the Battery Pack 2000 Plus v2 cover the Explorer 2000 Plus and HomePower 2000 Plus v2 stations. Check your station's model name on its label and the compatibility list on the pack's product page before ordering, since the v2 designation matters.
  • Capacity per pack. The 2000-class packs add 2,042Wh or 2,048Wh, the Battery Pack 3600 Plus adds 3,584Wh, and the Battery Pack 5000 Plus adds 5,040Wh. Work out how many extra hours you want and divide by your average load.
  • Cycle life. The 2000 Plus v2 and 3600 Plus packs are rated for 6,000 cycles; the original 2000 Plus and the 5000 Plus for 4,000. For daily solar cycling, the 6,000-cycle packs will outlast the 4,000-cycle ones by years.
  • Weight and placement. The v2 pack weighs 32.63 lb against 41.9 lb for the original, and the 5000 Plus is 81.57 lb. If the pack needs to ride in a vehicle or go up stairs, the lighter units are easier to live with.
  • How many packs. Each station has its own maximum number of add-on packs, listed on the station's product page. Buy one first, confirm it links, then add more.

Setup and usage tips

  • Use the Solar Kit Calculator to see how many watt-hours your appliances consume per day at your ZIP code. That number, minus what your station already holds, is the expansion you need.
  • Add solar input when you add capacity. A 5,040Wh pack on a station charged by a single 100W panel will take days to refill; more storage only helps if you can put energy back in.
  • Charge the pack and the station together before storing them, and top both up every few months. LiFePO4 holds charge well but should not sit empty.
  • Keep the pack within the station's operating temperature. A garage in a northern winter can push below the charging range, so bring it inside before a storm.
  • Label which pack goes with which station if you own more than one family; the 2000 Plus and 2000 Plus v2 packs look similar, so keep the model names visible.

Frequently asked questions

Does an expansion battery increase the output watts? No. The inverter in the station sets the output; a pack only adds runtime. If you need more watts, look at a larger station such as the Explorer 5000 Plus.

What chemistry are these packs? All four are LiFePO4, the same chemistry as the stations they attach to. It tolerates deep cycling and heat better than older lithium types, which is why the packs carry 4,000 to 6,000 cycle ratings.

Which pack lasts longest? The 2000 Plus v2 and the 3600 Plus at 6,000 rated cycles. Cycled once a day, that is well over a decade of service.

Every pack ships free to the mainland US from our brand partner warehouses, usually within a few business days, with 30-day returns. If you are not sure which pack matches your station, call us with the model name and we will confirm.
