How to choose between the two Victron units

• System voltage. The Victron 3000VA MultiPlus-II 2X Inverter Charger is a 12V unit, which fits RVs, vans and boats that already run a 12V house bank. The Victron EasySolar-II 3000W 48V Inverter/Charger wants a 48V bank, which is the right voltage for a cabin or a larger battery-based system where cable size and losses matter.
• Split-phase 120/240V. The MultiPlus-II 2x120V is built for North American 50A 120/240VAC split-phase RV service. It manages shore power, generator input and inverter output as one system, so a 50A coach keeps both legs live.
• Solar input. The EasySolar-II includes an MPPT 250/70 solar charge controller with up to 11,000W of listed solar input and a built-in battery charger. The MultiPlus-II does not list solar input; add a separate MPPT controller sized to your array.
• Monitoring. The EasySolar-II includes Color Control GX monitoring, so you see solar, battery and load data on the unit. With the MultiPlus-II you add a GX device if you want the same view.
• Weight and space. The MultiPlus-II 2x120V is listed at 48lb. Plan a solid mounting surface in a ventilated compartment.

• A 3,000W inverter on a 12V bank pulls high current at full load. Use the cable size and fuse rating Victron specifies, and keep the battery close to the inverter.
• For the EasySolar-II, size the panel array to what the built-in MPPT 250/70 controller accepts and check string voltage against Victron's published limit before wiring.
• Program the AC input current limit to match your shore pedestal or generator so the charger does not trip a 30A supply.

What is the difference between a Victron energy inverter and a Victron solar inverter? The MultiPlus-II is an inverter/charger with no solar input. The EasySolar-II is the solar inverter version: the same class of inverter plus an MPPT controller and GX monitoring inside.
