Jackery Explorer Series: Picking the Right Size from 99Wh to 5,040Wh

The Jackery Explorer series is the portable line: LiFePO4 power stations you carry to a campsite, a tailgate, a job site or the living room during an outage, with matching SolarSaga panels sold as solar generator kits. The range is unusually wide, from a 99Wh Explorer 100 Plus that lives in a backpack to the 5,040Wh Explorer 5000 Plus that can carry a home's essential circuits through an outage.

This collection holds 27 products. Bare stations start at from $109 and top out at $3,149 for the 5000 Plus; kits with panels run from $359 for the Solar Generator 300 v2 to $1,659 for the 1500 Ultra with two 200W panels. Every model uses LiFePO4 cells rated for 2,000 to 6,000 cycles.

How to choose an Explorer station

  • Watt-hours for your trip. Phones, a headlamp and a camera fit the Explorer 100 Plus at 99Wh. A weekend with a 12V cooler and laptops wants 640Wh or more, which is the Explorer 600 v2. For a family trip with a compressor fridge, the Explorer 2000 Plus at 2,042Wh gives several days.
  • Rated output. A coffee maker or induction plate draws 1,000 to 1,800W. The Explorer 1000 v2 delivers 1,500W (3,000W surge); the 1500 Ultra 1,800W; the 2000 Plus 3,000W; the 5000 Plus 7,200W with a 14,400W surge.
  • Station or solar generator kit. The kits add the panel. The Solar Generator 300 v2 includes a SolarSaga 40 Air, the 600 v2 kit a SolarSaga 100 Air, the 1000 v2 kit a SolarSaga 200W, and the 1500 Ultra kit two 200W panels for 400W of input.
  • Cycle life. The 600 v2 is rated for 6,000 cycles, most others for 4,000, and the 100 Plus for 2,000. If the station will cycle daily on a van roof, the 600 v2 is the durability pick in its size.
  • Expansion. The 5000 Plus grows to 60kWh with add-on battery packs, and the 2000 Plus has a matching Battery Pack 2000 Plus in our Jackery expansion collection. The smaller Explorers are fixed capacity.

Setup and usage tips

  • Enter your gear list and ZIP code in the Solar Kit Calculator. It estimates the watt-hours per day and the panel size that refills them at your latitude.
  • Pair the panel with the station's size. A 40W SolarSaga tops up the 288Wh 300 v2 over a day; the same panel on a 2,042Wh station barely registers, which is why the larger kits ship with 200W or 400W.
  • Leave home full. Charge from the wall the night before, then use solar to hold the level rather than to recover from empty.
  • Choose black or white on the 1000 v2 by where it lives: the black unit is from $489, the white from $519, same 1,070Wh and 1,500W.
  • For outages, start with the 2000 Plus or 5000 Plus, since those are the models with expansion packs available, and add capacity as the budget allows.

Frequently asked questions

Which Explorer runs a CPAP overnight? Most CPAPs without a heated humidifier draw 30 to 60W, so the 288Wh Explorer 300D covers a night with margin and the 640Wh 600 v2 covers two. Turn the humidifier off to stretch it.

Can I add a panel later to a bare station? Yes. The Explorer models sold here as solar generator kits accept SolarSaga panels, and the kit panel is the matched option. Buying the kit up front is usually cheaper than the two pieces separately.

What is the difference between the 2000 Plus and the 1500 Ultra? The 2000 Plus has more capacity (2,042Wh against 1,536Wh), more output (3,000W against 1,800W) and takes expansion packs. The 1500 Ultra is the lower-priced option and ships as a kit with two 200W panels if you want solar included.

Every Explorer ships free to the mainland US from our brand partner warehouses, usually within a few business days, with 30-day returns. Not sure which size fits your trips or your outage plan? Call and we will size it with you.
