FAQ

Common Questions

How is this different from Rich Solar's other 6,500W hybrid inverter?

The core power specs are similar, but the NOVA 6500S has a 5" LCD touchscreen with RGB ambient status lights for control and monitoring, rather than a standard LCD display — plus its own slightly different physical dimensions and weight.

What do the load modes control?

They set which power source the inverter draws from first — Utility Grid First, Solar First, or SBU Priority (Solar, Battery, then Utility) — depending on whether you want to prioritize using solar, minimizing grid draw, or grid reliability.

Can I use this as a UPS for critical loads?

Yes — it switches in as fast as 10ms in UPS mode (20ms for general appliances), fast enough to keep sensitive electronics running through a power interruption.

What battery types does it support?

AGM, Gel, Flooded, and lithium batteries, with battery-specific bulk charging voltages and configurable charging current.

Can multiple units be combined for more power?

Yes — up to 6 units can be paralleled for expanded capacity, including split-phase configurations for larger loads.

Initially the unit worked very well, and then it just malfunctioned. Unfortunately, I was left without power for several months while Rich worked to replace the unit. This was an undue burden and I think given the length of time, a refund or a replacement with a similar or better unit would have been a better solution.

Everything fired up after I figured out the power button. Paired with 4-12v 280AH ecoworthy lithium-ion batteries. So far so good. 🤞

Way more than I expected, haven't hooked up yet, so no comment there. I bought four, but that may have been overkill. Anyway units came timely, priced...
