LUXPower makes solar inverters, and this collection currently holds a single model that is out of stock. The line is restocking, so nothing is available to order at the moment. While you wait, compare comparable hybrid and off-grid inverters from Sol-Ark, EG4 and Sungold Power elsewhere on the site. Inverter choice depends on battery voltage, split-phase output and the size of your largest loads, so use those as your comparison points. Email or call us and we can point you to a close alternative.

LUXPower at Eco Solar Kits: Hybrid Inverters for Home Solar and Backup

LUXPower makes hybrid inverters for residential and small commercial solar, the kind of equipment that lets one unit manage panels, a battery bank, the utility connection and backup loads at the same time. Homeowners look at LUXPower when they want to add batteries to an existing solar array, replace a failed string inverter with something that supports storage, or build an off-grid system that can still tie to the grid later.

Our LUXPower page currently carries a single product, the LUXPower 12kW 120V/240V Hybrid Inverter at $4,890, which is sold out for now. It is the model people mean when they search for the LUXPower 12kW: 12,000W rated, up to 18,000W of solar, UL1741 and IEEE1547 certified, with a 10-year brand warranty. Read on for how it fits into a system and what to buy alongside it.

How to plan a system around a LUXPower inverter

  • Start from your loads, not the inverter. 12kW of split-phase output is whole-house territory: central air, a well pump, an oven and a dryer can overlap. If your list is a fridge, lights and a furnace blower, a smaller system may serve you better, and the calculator will show that quickly.
  • Battery bank. The unit works with 48V battery systems. Server-rack or wall-mount LiFePO4 modules from our lithium collection are the match; the more continuous current your bank can deliver, the closer you can run to the full 12,000W without the battery limiting output.
  • Panels. Up to 18,000W of PV across three MPPT inputs. That is roughly 40 to 45 panels in the 400W class, so a typical 8kW to 12kW roof array leaves headroom for a ground mount later.
  • Grid or no grid. The integrated UPS module transfers between on-grid and off-grid in 10 to 20 milliseconds. AC coupling means an existing grid-tie inverter can stay in place and feed the new battery through the LUXPower unit.
  • Future expansion. Parallel capability up to 120kW covers a workshop, a barn or an additional dwelling added years from now.

Sizing tips

  • Run the Solar Kit Calculator first. Enter every appliance and your ZIP code and it returns the battery kWh, inverter watts and panel watts your home needs, which tells you whether a 12kW hybrid is the right size or more than you need.
  • Size the battery for the outage length you want to cover, not for the inverter. A 12kW inverter on a 5kWh battery runs a house for under an hour at full load; 15kWh to 30kWh is the usual range for overnight backup.
  • Keep the panel strings within the inverter's MPPT voltage window, and spread them over the three inputs by roof orientation.
  • Use smart load control to shed the water heater or EV charger automatically in an outage so the battery lasts through the night.
  • Peak shaving only pays off on a time-of-use rate plan. Check with your utility before you count on it.
  • Book a licensed electrician for installation and file the interconnection paperwork early; the UL1741 and IEEE1547 listing is what the utility will want to see.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a smaller LUXPower model here? Not at present; the 12kW hybrid is the only LUXPower inverter in our catalog. If you need something in the 5kW to 8kW class, call us and we will point you to an in-stock hybrid inverter from another brand.

Will the LUXPower 12kW work with batteries from other brands? It is designed for 48V battery systems. Most 48V LiFePO4 rack and wall batteries we sell fall in that class; confirm the specific battery's communication compatibility with us before ordering.

Can I use it without any solar panels? Yes. As a battery-plus-grid unit it charges the bank from the utility and provides UPS-style backup, and you can add panels to the MPPT inputs later.

LUXPower inverters ship free to the mainland US from brand partner warehouses when in stock, usually within a few business days, with 30-day returns. Call us to be notified of restock or to size a complete system today.
