Bluetti Expansion Battery Guide: Adding Capacity to the Station You Already Own

A Bluetti expansion battery is a LiFePO4 pack that plugs into a compatible Bluetti station and adds watt-hours without changing the inverter. It is the cheaper path when your fridge runs out of battery at 3 a.m. during an outage, when a trailer trip stretches from two nights to five, or when you bought a station last year and now want it to carry more of the house. The inverter's continuous watts stay the same; only the runtime grows.

This collection lists six Bluetti packs from 2,048Wh to 5,120Wh, priced from $1,099 for the B230 to $3,899 for the B500. Three are in stock today: the B500K, the B300K and the B500. The B230, B300S and B300 are currently sold out. Every pack here is matched to a specific station family, so the first step is checking which one your unit accepts.

How to choose the right pack

• Compatibility. This decides everything else. The Bluetti B500K Expansion Battery 5,120Wh is the universal option: Bluetti lists it for the Apex 300, AC300, AC500, AC200L, AC200MAX and upcoming models. The BLUETTI B500 4,960Wh LiFePO4 Expansion Battery works only with the EP900 or EP800. The B230, B300 and B300S pair with the AC series stations such as the AC300 and AC500; check your model's list before ordering.
• Capacity per pack. The B230 adds 2,048Wh; the Bluetti B300K 2,764.8Wh 48V Portable Expansion Battery adds 2,764.8Wh; the B300 and B300S add 3,072Wh each; the B500K adds 5,120Wh. Match the pack to the gap between what your station holds and what a night or a trip actually uses.
• Cycle life and warranty. The B230 is rated 3,500 cycles, the B300K 4,000 cycles with a 4-year warranty, and the B500 carries a 10-year warranty. For daily solar cycling those numbers matter; for occasional outage use any of them lasts.
• Charging inputs on the pack. Some packs charge on their own. The B230 takes up to 500W of solar and the B300S up to 1,000W combined AC, solar or car input, which lets you refill the pack even when it is detached from the station.

Sizing tips

• Measure the shortfall, not the wish. If your station dies two hours before sunrise, a B300K covers it; if it dies at midnight, look at the B500K.
• Use the Solar Kit Calculator with your appliance list and ZIP code. It sizes the total battery you need, and the difference between that and your station's capacity is the pack size to buy.
• Add panel wattage when you add storage. A 5,120Wh pack on a station with 400W of solar takes most of a sunny day to refill; check your station's input ceiling before assuming it will keep up.
• Buy the pack that fits the station you might own next. The B500K's universal compatibility means it survives an upgrade from an AC200MAX to an Apex 300.
• Keep packs above freezing while charging and store them partly charged between trips; both extend the cycle life you paid for.

Frequently asked questions

Will a Bluetti battery expansion increase my station's output? No. Packs add watt-hours only. A 2,200W station with a B500K attached is still a 2,200W station that runs for much longer.

Can I use two packs at once? Many stations accept more than one, which is why the B500K product page lists two-pack pricing up to $3,998. Check your station's maximum pack count before ordering a second.
