How to choose a 48V inverter

• Output for the loads you run together. The EG4 6000XP at 6,000W handles a cabin or a critical-loads panel. The Sungold Power 8,000W Split Phase and the 10,000W version cover most homes without electric heat. For everything at once, the Sungold SGN-11K15PRO offers 11.4kW continuous with 200A whole-home backup, so there is no sub-panel to plan.
• Solar input and string voltage. The Sungold 8kW accepts 11,000W of PV with a 500V open-circuit limit; the EG4 FlexBOSS18 takes 18,000W across two trackers. If your roof can hold more panels than the inverter accepts, buy up a size.
• Grid interaction. Sol-Ark 12K, 15K and 18K, the EG4 12kPV and FlexBOSS models, and the UL 1741 listed Rich Solar NOVA 12K all operate grid-tied or off-grid. The APEX-6.5K is off-grid with dedicated grid and generator inputs.

• Confirm your battery's continuous discharge rating supports the inverter. A 10kW 48V hybrid inverter can pull over 200A from the bank at full load.
• Match the output voltage to your panel. A 48V to 240V inverter with split-phase output is required for well pumps, dryers and central AC; a 120V-only unit will not start them.

Why 48V rather than 24V for a home? At 48V a 6,000W load draws about 125A instead of 250A, so wiring, fuses and busbars are smaller and cheaper. Every home-scale inverter here is 48V for that reason.

Which solar inverter 48V model works with any lithium battery? All of them accept a 48V lithium bank. Closed-loop battery communication depends on the specific pairing, so ask us before mixing brands if you want the battery to report state of charge to the inverter.

Can I run three-phase equipment? The Sol-Ark 60K delivers native 277/480V three-phase with 78kW of PV input, and the Sungold 8kW supports three-phase in parallel groups. Residential units are split-phase only.
